The GBP/USD pair is falling on Friday; the statistics was rather neutral.
On Friday afternoon, the British Pound is retreating against the USD. The current quote for the instrument is 1.3370.
The United Kingdom published a lot of statistics today. First of all, the final estimation of the GDP Growth Rate in the second quarter 2017, which is 0.3% q/q, the same as expected and was before.
The number of Mortgage Approvals in August was 67K against the expected number of 68K.
The Net Lending to Individuals in the UK was £5.6B in August. It’s more than expected and the July reading.
The British Current Account in the second quarter was the weakest among all published reports. The deficit exceeded all possible expectations as it was worse than in the first quarter. One can’t say it was very surprising, but investors clearly wanted to see some improvement.
So, the statistics didn’t impress much. Apart from the Current Account, there was nothing really interesting. The British economy is developing in a pretty stable trend and one shouldn’t wait for any bursts of activity here. Even if the GDP adds just 0.2%-0.3% every quarter, it will be more impressive number on YoY.
