Yesterday, Her Majesty's Treasury (HM Treasury) and the Bank of England reported on possible consequences of the country’s exiting the European Union. According to their calculations, in case of the “tough” scenario, the British economy will be 10% weaker by 2023 in comparison with the “soft” one.
The general conclusion of the British government and regulator is quite interesting. It says that the country’s economy would be much better in the long-term, if the United Kingdom stayed in the European Union. This information is a real “pennies from heaven” for those policymakers, who are now in opposition to the Prime Minister Theresa May, because they may use it in the further Brexit talks.
The United Kingdom will continue publishing the statistics until the end of the week, but only one report, the GfK Consumer Confidence, is worth paying attention to, because it may pose risks to the Pound.
