USDJPY is rising a bit after several “negative” trading sessions last week.
The Japanese Yen is retreating against the USD on Monday morning. The current quote for the instrument is 106.33.
The statistics published by Japan this morning showed that the Tankan Large Manufacturers Index dropped up to 24 points in the first quarter 2018 after being 26 points the quarter before and against the expected reading of 25 points. Taken separately, the Tankan Large Non-Manufacturing Index decreased from 25 points to 23 points.
The Tankan Non-Manufacturing Outlook for the next quarter got worse: now it’s 20 points instead of 21 before.
The final Nikkei Manufacturing PMI report also declined a bit, but not too much, from 53.2 points to 53.1 points, although the indicator wasn’t expected to change at all.
Today’s trading session is going to be calm and quiet, because a lot of catholic countries are still celebrating Easter and those that aren’t have no important statistics in the macroeconomic calendar.
