It is expected that Macron with a pro-European views, and got the win in the second round. It is the preferred candidate in the financial markets, since his election will mean virtually zero chance of France's withdrawal from the EU.
Risky assets began to rise sharply in price from the time of the start of voting on Sunday evening. The euro hit a five-month high, while safe-haven assets such as gold and the yen collapsed.
